Creative Connections is a series of free online creative workshops for adults over the age of 60 in the Western Isles who feel isolated as a result of their circumstances – be it Covid-19 restrictions, geographical remoteness, disability or any other disadvantage.
Join Annabel Pattulo for a fun textile workshop called ‘Memory on Fabric’, in which you will learn how to make a fabric photo album. Instead of using papers and glue, as you would with scrapbooking, you will work with fabrics and thread. You will learn how to transfer your photos onto fabric with transfer foil (with no harm to the original photographs). The photos you choose can be of your family, your childhood, a special occasion or place.
With Annabel’s inspirational guidance and support, you will meet her and others online via Zoom each week. It will be an opportunity to chat and learn new skills. With step-by-step instructions, you will work with different fabrics; recycled, new & vintage, lace etc. and learn the different design possibilities to create your fabric album.
Annabel will demonstrate textile techniques such as cut-away applique, collage, fabric layering, letter embroidery and patchwork. Finally, you will stitch everything together by hand, or with a sewing machine if you have one.
What you will have at the end of the sessions is a beautiful ‘Memory on Fabric’ photo album, made by you! It would be a lovely Christmas present or become a treasured heirloom to share with family and friends!
To take part you need a computer, internet access and a clear workspace. If you don’t have a computer you can borrow a laptop from An Lanntair for the duration of the course. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
The course will be delivered through Zoom. When you book, check that your email address is correct on your An Lanntair account. The Zoom link will be emailed to you. The Project Co-ordinator will be happy to support with technical issues and getting used to Zoom.
Book by 4th Nov to receive your materials in time for the 1st session.
