Creative Connections is a series of free online workshops for adults over the age of 60 in the Western Isles.
Join textile artist Annabel Pattulo for this fun workshop called ‘Memory on Fabric’, in which you will learn how to make a special fabric photo album, with the theme of your choice.
Instead of using papers and glue, you will work with fabrics and thread. You will learn how to transfer your photos (of your childhood, your family, where you live etc.) onto fabric with transfer foil (with no harm to the original photographs).
With Annabel’s inspirational guidance and support, you will meet her and others online via Zoom each week. It will be an opportunity to chat, exchange news and have an enjoyable trip down memory lane, sharing stories and learning new skills. With step by step easy instructions, you will work with different fabrics; recycled, new & vintage, lace etc. to make your finished piece.
Annabel will demonstrate techniques in a relaxed atmosphere such as collage, layering, applique to create decoration. And finally, you will stitch everything together by hand (or with a sewing machine if you have one).
What you will have at the end of the sessions is a beautiful ‘Memory on fabric’ photo album, made by you, to share with family and friends!
You will receive a pack of fabric and all the sewing equipment you need for the course. You may wish to gather together some special fabrics and objects to incorporate into your Memory on Fabric book.
To take part you need a computer, internet access and a clear workspace. If you don’t have a computer, you can borrow a laptop from An Lanntair for the duration of the course. Contact email@example.com for details.
The course will be delivered through Zoom. When you book, check that your email address is correct on your An Lanntair account. The Zoom link will be emailed to you. The Project Co-ordinator will be happy to support with technical issues and getting used to Zoom.
Book by Friday 22nd January to receive your materials in time for the 1st session.
