Creative Connections is a series of free creative workshops for adults over the age of 60 in the Western Isles who feel isolated as a result of their circumstances – be it geographical remoteness, disability or any other disadvantage. If this applies to you, you can book any of our Creative Connections workshops. You can make a booking for a friend or family member if they are eligible and would like to take part.
Creative Connections: Looking and journaling workshop with Sandra Kennedy
This series of online workshops led by artist Sandra Kennedy will focus on paying attention to your surroundings. Each week there will be a challenge to walk and record in a journal, or if you are unable to walk, sitting outdoors or at the window. A series of prompts and instructions will be given each week, with suggested materials and some instruction on their use. Over the course you will gradually fill a journal with images and writing in either Gaelic or English. Challenges will include writing about and drawing what you see or experience around you: your hands; the clouds; the night sky; the wind; plants etc. Throughout the series of classes you will share your exploration of your surroundings with the group, and enjoy shared experiences.
** This course has now begun, but you can still join from week 2. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to join in. **
The sessions will be delivered via Zoom and a link will be emailed to you. All you need is a device with an internet connection and a clear work-space. You will receive a hard backed sketchbook and art materials in advance of the first session. Please ensure that your address is correct on your An Lanntair account when booking.
