“A hands-in-the-air joyride through the acid house rave set” Time Out

A bittersweet coming-of-age story from Scottish director Brian Welsh (In Our Name), adapted from his own stage play by Kieran Hurley. Set in East Lothian in 1994, the story hinges on the Tory government’s crackdown on rave culture. Our heroes are two gawky techno-head teenagers – Johnno (Cristian Ortega) and Spanner (Lorn Macdonald). Best friends at school, their paths now look set to diverge – with Johnny moving away and Spanner stuck with his bullying older brother, but when word travels of an upcoming underground protest rave, it seems like an ideal chance for one last hurrah…

Brian Welsh / UK 2019 / 1h42m / 18 – Contains very strong language. / Cast: Cristian Ortega, Lorn Macdonald, Amy Manson, Rachel Jackson, Laura Fraser.
