Bell Project le by Marcus Vergette
Suidheachadh-ealain maireannach de 12 clag timcheall Bhreatainn a tha gan seirm leis a’ mhuir aig làn-mhara.
Am Pròiseact: gus suidheachadh-ealain maireannach de Chluig Tìm ’s Seòl-mara a chruthachadh aig àitean làn-mhara air feadh oirthir na dùthcha. Tha an clag a chruthaich mi (a sheirmeas fuinn diofraichte le aon bhualadh) ga sheirm le gluasad nan tonn agus e a’ cruthachadh pàtaran caochlaideach sochair ceòlmhor. Fhad ’s a tha bualadh blàthachadh na cruinne ag àrdachadh bidh an clag a’ seirm nas trice agus bidh fuaim a’ chluig ag atharrachadh cuide ri àrdachadh ìre na mara. Chaidh an ciad chlag a chur air chois anns an Iuchar 2009 aig Appledore ann an Devon: an darna fear aig Bosta ann am Beàrnaraigh san Ògmhios 2010: an treas aig Trinity Buoy Wharf ann an Lunnainn san t-Sultain 2010 agus thèid an ceathramh a chur air dòigh ann an Aberdyfi, sa Chuimrigh ann an 2011. Tha dà àite eile ga leasachadh an-dràsta, Orford Ness agus Middlesborough.
A permanent installation of 12 bells around the U.K. rung by the sea at high tide.
The project: to make a permanent installation of Time and Tide Bells at the high tide mark at a number of diverse sites around the country, from urban centres to open stretches of coastline. Played by the movement of the waves, this bell which I have designed (which plays different notes from a single strike) creates a varying, gentle, musical pattern. As the effect of global warming increases, the periods of bell strikes will become more and more frequent, and as the bell becomes submerged in the rising water the pitch will vary. The first bell was installed in July 2009 at Appledore, Devon: the second on Bosta beach Gt. Bernera, Outer Hebrides in June 2010: the third at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London in September 2010. The fourth to be installed in Aberdyfi, Wales 2011, with Orford Ness and Middlesbrough under development.
Gun mhùthadh gun truas Without change, without pity
A’ sluaisreadh gaineamh na tràghad Breaking on the sand of the beach
An àtaireachd bhuan The ceaseless surge
Cluinn fuaim na h-àtairreachd àrd. Listen to the high surge of the sea
Mo leabaidh dean suas Make my resting place be
Ri fuaim na h-àtaireachd àrd. By the sound of the surge of the sea
