In 2005, Eòghann MacColl became the 17th recipient of the the Alasdair Salveson Art scholarship. He travelled round the North Atlantic rim and visited Shetland, the Faroes, Iceland, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and St Pierre et Michelon.
This exhibition is of the work that came from this long cold sojourn and was first shown at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh in 2006.
The Alastair Salvesen Art Scholarship is a major initiative intended to encourage and assist young painters who have already made the transition from college to professional practice. This travelling scholarship, of up to £10,000, enables the artists to take a journey of discovery; new experiences, new sights, new challenges and new resource material. Eòghann MacColl is the 17th recipient of this award.
