Three major events in succession; an exhibition opening, a book launch and a keynote lecture, all taking place at an Lanntair on Saturday 12th of April.
They are all linked to the Royal Scottish Academy’s Gaidhealtachd Highland exhibition.
Originally shown in Edinburgh as part of Highland 2007, this second part features works from the prestigious RSA Collection, work by Lewis artist Norman Shaw, an insight into the Uinneag dhan Àird an Iar Window to the West project in collaboration with the Visual Research Centre at Dundee University and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, and drawings and film from the Richard Demarco archive.
Also launched on the same evening will be the RSA’s new publication titled ‘Bho chruinneachaidhean Acadamaidh Rìoghail na h-Alba; Ealain Ghàidhealach, Uinneag dhan Àird an Iar From the collections of the Royal Scottish Academy; Highland Art, A Window to the West’
This will be followed at 7pm in the auditorium by the annual Òraid MhicGill’Iosa RSA Gillies Lecture which this year will be delivered by Professor Murdo Macdonald. TitledEalain agus a’ Ghaidhealtachd Art and the Highlands it is open to the public and free. RSA President, Bill Scott, will be in attendance.
