WHɎTE comprises Gaelic singer-songwriter Alasdair C. Whyte (Mull) and electronic composer and musician Ross Whyte (Aberdeenshire). WHɎTE perform new arrangements of traditional Gaelic songs, original instrumental pieces and original Gaelic songs.
Their original Gaelic song, ‘Cionran’, received the 2017 Hands Up for Trad/Creative Scotland Nòs Ùr Songwriting Award. WHɎTE’s acclaimed debut release ‘Fairich’ is out now. ‘Fairich: Live’, a Made in Scotland Showcase featuring songs from the debut album and projected visuals produced by Dan Shay, premièred at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2017.
WHɎTE’s music has drawn comparison with Sigur Rós, Martyn Bennett, Massive Attack and London Grammar.
WHɎTE will talk about electronic composition using Ableton and techniques such as live looping and talk about their song-writing in an Artist talk on Friday from 1-3pm.
