Monday, 2nd March at 8pm in An Lanntair’s Café Bar
The Monday Night Music Session on Monday 2nd March will open with our programmed artists from Dual – The Fèis Eilean an Fhraoich under 19 folk group. These are a very talented group of young people and winners of the 2019 Glasgow Mòd for best folk group, taking home the Allan Thomas Mitchell Trophy. Brilliant accordion player Stephen Drummond Will also be playing some tunes on the night.
Afterwards we will have an Open Mic session. Please ask for any assistance you might need so you can perform. Try some new songs with a friendly audience, and use the opportunity to be spontaneous and have fun.
March Song-Writing Challenge
Compose a song that includes mouth music and perform it on the night – In Gaelic this is Puirt à Beul – fun songs with the focus on making percussion and rhythm. Along with the puirt there is Canntaireachd which is mimicking bagpipes with your voice (this was traditionally for teaching, composing and notation or for ‘playing’ bagpipes when you didn’t have them.
For non Gaelic singers examples are jazz scat, beatbox etc – a good example of a Jazz Vocalist is Bobby Mcferrin.
