Join musicians Benedict Morris and Pablo Lafuente to explore the different ornaments, tunes and playing styles in Irish traditional music, exploring the differences to Scottish traditional music. In this workshop, you will learn a few traditional tunes in small groups before playing them together. Suitable for intermediate to advanced guitar and fiddle players (grade 3+). Bring your own instrument.
Fiddle player Benedict Morris won the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year at Celtic Connections this year. Benedict, from Glasgow, is currently in his final year on the BMus classical course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Also winning awards at a young age, guitarist Pablo Lafuente won the 2017 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award along with Josie Duncan. Of Spanish origin, Pablo has put down cultural roots in Scotland, completing his studies of guitar and fiddle at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional music. Benedict and Pablo will be appearing together at HebCelt on Friday and Saturday.
