Hebridean International Film Festival 2019

Now in its sixth year, Rural Nations Scotland CIC presents the Hebrides International Film Festival 2019, delivering a plethora of outstanding international films reflecting on the themes of Islands, Environment, and Remote Communities.

Allowing audiences to consider cultural diversity, relationships, animal protection, human impact on the planet, and the desperate need for everyone to take action on climate change, the HIFF documentary programme includes highlights such as Sundance Festival award winner ‘Sea of Shadows’ by Richard Ladkani; Patagonia’s ‘Artifishal’ by Josh ‘Bones’ Murphy; and the wonderful ‘Biggest Little Farm’ by John Chester.

In the Festival dramas there are thrillers like ‘Arctic’ by Joe Penna, and experimental film ‘Bait’ by Mark Jenkin, alongside award winning Thai film ‘Manta Ray’ and Robert Redford’s ‘The Mustang’.

And as always, HIFF presents a brilliant array of supporting shorts throughout its 2019 programme which will see a total of 78 screenings take place in 12 venues throughout the islands, including An Lanntair, community venues, and Pop-Up cinemas!
