Join us for our Fèill Ceáird is Còcairachd: Craft and Cookery Festival – an amazing tour of food and craft from our diverse island communities.
Visitors will be able to sample world cuisines from the Minch to Mumbai in a fun filled day of cooking demonstrations, food tasters and Hebridean craft stalls, highlighting the quality of handmade crafts to be found on a journey through the islands.
The day begins with the Harris Tweed Cycle Ride.
Then from 12pm to 4pm, the locally foraged natural foods theme from the previous day’s events, will be mirrored within a crafts display. Vintage up-cycled furniture by Lewis Revival and a range of fabrics by island based weavers will form a back-drop to beautifully designed ceramic, glass and leather craft products handmade to enhance any table setting, by Shoreline Stoneware, Solus Studio, Hebridean Baskets, The Middle Room, Borgh Pottery and The Old Leatherworks.
There will be original jewellery inspired by beach-combing and the natural flora of the Hebrides, by Islewear and Salka Seaglass, plus demos on hand-spinning, papermaking from plants and how to recycle glass into craft objects. Exciting new yarn and knitwear designs emerging from The Birlinn Yarn Company, Uist Wool, Scalpay Linen and Versimilitude will be showcased. Knitters are encouraged to bring their needles, buy and test the wools and have a good yarn with the makers from 3-4pm
The Foyer and Café Bar galleries will have an exhibition of the Epic Award winning Barra Bunting and artworks by Hebridean Contemporary Artists exploring coastal ecology.
